Holcomb of New Lynn, came in home Monday night alter a service of three and a hal: forces* .rt:^ ' -----more, he came home with an honor-able discharge which was given him at Fort Sam Houston Sunday.• V A__kk *Iium IPfc. Holcomb was inducted into I qj the army on November 19, 1941, al-jLi_ _i Tnnan- 1 *most three weeks before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He was sent overseas in August, 1942, and saw sendee both in North Africa N and in Sicily. Later he was in the , u, invasion forces that landed in Nor- a,rriandy. and it was in r ranee wwi .»«. «, received the only wound tliat he J u suftered in his entire period of ser-vice, a slight shrapnel wound in thu|e| right leg, which sent him to theL,hospital tor four days only. In the army he was an |j, ammunition bearer, his duty being to take ammunition by truck to the troops in the front lines, unload and!, prepare it for immediate use.
