Their authority is co-extensive with the state.The governor is further authorized to establish a secret service or constabulary for the protection of property and the curbing of hostile acts. The governor has a number of volunteers in service now.CANTONMENT PROGRESSINGBuildings Are Being Rushed and Supplies Received and In Place— Small Army at Work.Des Moines.—Building at Camp Dodge began with a rush. Throngs of workmen who gathered at the Weitz tent labor headquarters about sunrise were transported in special interurb-an cars to the cantonment site, and things began to hum.It is estimated close to 500 men are working upon one kind or another of camp construction and this number will -be increased day by day.Close to 300 men are already employed upon the government building.
