Army Conyoy Stops in CarrollFifty vehicles and 280 men from Hq. and Hq. Co. and Company B. 3rd Battalion (Mech.) 17th infantry from Council Bluffs and Creston had a noon stop-over here Friday on their way to Camp Ripley, Minn. Lt.-Col. Richard C. Osho of Council Bluffs is commanding officer.The vehicles were refueled by Don Odendahl at the Carroll ball park while the men ate lunch at the Graham Park shelter house, catered by Urban (John) Janning.Units from Marshalltown and Ottumwa Company A and Company C. were to join the convoy near Rockwell and bivouac' atEstherville Friday night and continue on to Camp Ripley, near Little Falls, on Saturday.The two-week summer encampment is part of the 205th Infantry Brigade (Separate)headquartered at Fort Snelling, Minn.Capt. Roy D. Barton, Glid-den, Battalion S-2, preceeded the main body as liaison officer.
