Trunkhill was honored at a retirement ceremony held June 16 at Peterson .Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. Trunkhill, who enlisted with the U.S. Air Force in 1996, is the son of Les and Karen Kiewiet of Buffalo Center and Thomas and Shila Trunkhill of Plymouth.Trunkhill has served most recently as a level II Program Manager for the Air Force Lifecycle Material Center in support of upgraded early warning radar systems. He attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, graduating in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Professional Aeronautics and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He later earned a master’s degree in Aeronautical Science, specializing in Space Studies, from Embry Riddle in 2013.Captain Trunkhill has extensive support, operations and acquisition experience. His first assignment was an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Min-uteman III deputy combat crew commander as a part of the acquisitions operational exchange program. He directed operations in support of 150 ICBMs fielded at VlinotAFB, ND.Prior to commissioning, Trunkhill enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1996Captain Cory J. Trunkhillas an aircraft armament systems technician. Graduating technical school at Sheppard AFB, TX, in 1997, he has supported armament maintenance operations on F-16 and F-15 fighter aircraft and B-1B bombers. He has deployed numerous times on a number of operations.Captain Trunkhill and his wife, Car-lenn, reside in Colorado Springs, along with their three-year-old daughter, Kai, and seven-month-old son, Beau.
