foidest Mexican Veteran In the CountyMoses St. Clair, south Rogers street, has the unique distinction of being the only Mexican war veteran in the couii' ty of Monroe. At the age of twelve Mr. St. Clair enlisted as a member of the I'ifth Indiana Infantry and after serving a year, was given an honorable discharge. Again when the country’s call came in ’61, Mr. St. Clair enlisted. He has received during his time of service, three honorable discharges, one after a year’s service in the Mexican fray and two in the Civil War. In the latter struggle he first served three years and was honorably discharged and then when the callcame during the last year, he again enlisted and served a year and three months. Mr. St. Clair is the father of six children, four by his first marriage and two by the last, four of whom are still living.He receives a pension of $30 a month for disability incurred during the Civil War.THE EAGLE
