Walker, from Vanderburgh. The beauty of the story is, that Col. Churchill, Inspecting Officer of the United States, although possessing a keen penetrating eye, was unable to detect her, but permitted her to pass, and her true character was not discovered until afterwards, by a volunteer, who had lost a handkerchief, and seeing one resembling his in the bosom of the supposed soldier, thrust his hand in, and in extricating it, was able, by the seriBe of feding, to make a discovery which the Colonel was unable to make by the organ of vision. We understamfthat her excuse for her conduct was, that her parents are dead, and wanting to go to Texas, she knew of no other way to get there but by Volunteering.— A.
