Olr Military.—The Adjutant lt;!en-| e-aTs lleport, for a copy of which we areindebted to Mr. (libboney, sets down the•» *whole number of organised vplunteer companies in the State at 476, averaging aboutforty men to a company, making an aggrc- \ gite of about 16,600 uniformed volunteers. The entire military force of the State is about three hundred lt;tnd p/ty-tier thou*- •'ind men, capable of military duty. The arms of the State are all in the possession of the volunteer companies, and c m.prise j 12,080 muskets, Ac., 4,706 rifles, Ac, 2,s 16 cavalry swords and sabres, ‘,147 pi.-tols, Ac., 60 pieces of ordnance, being six-pound bronze cannon. There are about 575 tents, about half worn, in the arsenal at Harrisburg. Of the above, there arc 1 about 2.500 muskets of the new model, 1... I.- of ff'1 - r 7 »1,200 improved rifles, and about 500 ex*cellent cavalry swords. The balance ofthe arms are unfit for actual service in the- - ’tiolil, being mostly the heavy uMnint lock, which, in using, arc as likely to injure the j possessor as any one else. The 6! piecesof ordnance are in good condition, with the j exception of their carriages, many of ^liich need repair, and others ought to be entire- | ly replaced. Thus it will be seen that the volunteers of the State have really but 4,206 effective small arms, leaving an ac-J O—• f *tual deficit for them alone of 14,800 arms, j This is truly a lamentable exhibit. ,The list of officers of the 14th Division 1comprises the following array of “ men-of- iI«war: r.■■IMajor General—James W.
