Herb, a noted Russian musician, as conductor of the Fourth Regimental band of Fairfield. v.g)fdhe.8ddSeverien Z. Herb comes of a musical family (his father having conducted the Czar’s military band for . 15 years) and was brought up under a musical atmosphere. He was given his musical education at the Con-srvatory of Music at Petrograd, Russia, on the violin and clarinet.After coming to this country, he having shown a preference for the bass instruments, his father returned him to Russia for another four yearsiitr3course on these instruments. Afterthis he served four years as first bass with the Innes orchestra band, two years with Brooks’ Chicago Marine band and one year with MadamButterfly Grand Opera Co.The past eight years he has been located at Hutchinson, Kansas.Frederick Neil Innes has this to say of Mr. Herb:“Severien Z, Herb was for some years a member of the Innes Orchestra Band and I found him a thorough musical artist. His deportment was at all times that of a gentleman andII was sincerely sorrv when he resigned his position in the band to go into business for himself. Mr. Herb Is an energetic and tireless worker.” !He will open a studio here early in March and teach all brass, wood, wind and string instruments.
