Mock Minuteman Missile On Display for 1st TimeSpecial to The TribuneHILL AIR FORCE BASE—A model of the missile whichhas made Utah the heart of theMinuteman industry, went ondisplay for the first time in the state Friday afternoon in Salt Lake City,THE MINUTEMAN missile casing, minus the engines and guidance system, was hoisted into upright “firing” position by Air Force personnel from the USAF Orientation Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.An air crew from the 28th Logistic Support Squadron flew the missile from Ohio toHill AFB late Thursday, butthe weapon was not unloaded until about 11 a.m. Friday.The missiles are displayed in Utah in connection with the national conference of the American Rocket Society, to be held in Salt Lake City Wednesday through Friday of next week.THE MINUTEMAN model on display in Salt Lake City was assembled by the Boeing Airplane Co., Seattle, Wash., as a display piece, then turned over to the USAF Orientation Group for exhibits.vwL-dgnoyii-THE MINUTEMAN is on display in front of the Hotel Utah Motor Lodge, 125 W.
