Spangler, 846 Wayne avenue, York, and husband of the former Delores Nutter, Hanover, was awarded the Bronze Star medal last Tuesday for outstanding services in the Hawaiian Islands from the time of Pearl Harbor until August, 1943.The presentation was made bv Major General H. S. Aurand, director of War Department Research and Development, in a ceremony at the Pentagon building, Washington, D. C. Col. Spangler, a coast artillery unit commander at Pearl Harbor, was decorated . . for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy in the Hawaiian Islands from Dec. 7, 1941, to Aug. 13, 1943.”
