CAPT. SIMEON H. CRANEBrave Soldier, Good Citizen and Courte-1 ous Gentleman, Died in Chicago.Captain Simeon H. Crane died Tuesday evening, Jan. 23d, 1917, athis residence, 3733 Lake Park ave-; nue, Chicago. He was born in Madison, Ind., almost 77 years ago. on Feb. 11, 1840. He served as Captain of Co. C, 67th Regiment of Indiana Volunteers. He went to Chicago at the close of the Civil war and becapie a member of the hardware firm of Markley, Ailing Co.At the time of his death Mr. Crane was Recorder of the Loyal Legion. The surviving members of his family are his daughter, Miss Marie Crane, and niece, Miss Ama Hendricks. Mr. Crane was also a member of George H. Thomas Post, G. A. R., and Cleveland Lodge, A. F. A. M.Funeral services will be conducted at his late residence by Rev. Gilbert \V. Laidlaw at 3 o’clock on Thursday and interment will be at Madison, Ind., on the arrival of the morning train on Friday.Friends and old comrades of Capt. Crane in Co. C are invited to be present at the funeral services.Captain Crane was for many years a resident of Madison and was highly esteemed as a Citizen and courteous gentleman. As a soldier in the civil war he had a splendid record for valor and courage and was almost the idol of his comrades-in-arms.Miss Hendricks, Mr. M. S. Barrett, Mrs. Carl Keith, daughter of the late John Ailing, and Van and Charles Ailing will accompany the body from Chicago. The daughter is not able to come.
