Will Install Officersof New Legion PostInstallation ceremonies of Claude E. Abbott post number 1095. The Am-i erican Legion, will be held at the ; C. I. O. hall, 14906 Page ave.. on Fri. eve., Jan. 31. Walter E. Wiles, pastcommander of the eighth district, will serve as installing officer, assisted by officers of Harvey post number 155. A benefit dance, sponsored by the new post, will follow the formal portion of the program to which the public is invited.fThe membership of Claude E. Abbott post is composed of colored veterans of Harvey. Phoenix and other nearby communities.To be inducted as the first commander will be Harry Wheeler, other offices being filled by the following:John Cooper, senior vice commander; Harold Dorsey, junior commander;Sylvester Stokes, finance officer; William Morris, adjutant; Nathan Watkins. chaplain, and L. K Watkins, sergeant-at-arms.tThe Harvey post will present the new post with an American flag.Claude Abbott, for whom the post was named, died in France on Mar. 29. 1945. One of five sons in the Abbott family, he had a brother. Felton, who also saw action on French soil.
