Mary Duffy found an interesting document a. couple, of weeks ago while .sifting through, a box of possessions left' by the- late Tliomas.Kirby Sr., an; early-day Palo Alio county supervisor. It was-'a- land grant;.made* to -Thomas W. Tobin* prominent pioneer, Sept. 1, 18G2, and signed by President Abraham Lincoln.. Mrs.- Kirby was a sister of Mr.. Tobin-, and a grandmother of Miss Duffy and Mrs. Jack Jackson. The patent granted Mr: ’ Tobin. 160 acres, of land near Fort Dodge because he had soldiered for. the; U.. S*. government. Sharon Jackson, .daughter .of the- Jack-Jacksons,, has loaned it to Catholic High where it is'the tap exhibit at. history classes.
