Machen.! 14324 Third avenue SE, has been missing iti action since Dec. 31 in (Germany, his parents have been notified by the secretary of war.} A Franklin graduate. Sgt. Machen attended Coe two years be*|'fore enlisting in the air force and beginning his training at Santa Ana, Calif. He went overseas last! July and renewed acquaintance * with an area he had seen several times before, especially during 1936 and 1937. when he visited England and the continent with his parents and his brother, James, fireman (2/c), now stationed with the coast guard in Alaska.trSgt. Machen has been awarded the Air Medal with three clusters.
