■ ■ fc 4...M ■rn — i — tlalasg*TliVcanliaEcovintonnhiliiot%m:Capture tp Swamp Dragons.—A portion of Capfc. McNeill’s company,—Borne 26 or 80 men—under command of Lt. Wei ton, made a descent, op^Tuesday the 10th inst., upon a squad of Swamp Dragons, on North Fork, Fendtaton county, killing three and capturing two. A m^n named Yoakum and one named Branneman, both notorious amongst the “Dragons” for their thieving operations, were among the killed. The prisoners were lodged in the guard-house in pe Harrisonburg^ on Sunday morning. Along with Jthcm when they .were brought into Harrisonburg, were two Yahkees who claimed to be deserters, who were caught near Petersburg, in Hardy county.The day after Lt. Welton’s descent upon the “Dragons” Lt. Kelly, ot Oapt. .Woodson’s company, also had a skirmish with the “Swamps,” on South Fork, in Pendleton, which, however, resulted in no damage to either side. After the skirmish the “Dragons,” 20 in number, went to the house of Mr. Simon Dasher, a Southern man, where they commenced plundering. They were soon charged, however, by Lt. Kelly and his squad,, and driven off. It will thus be seen, that some of McNeill’s and some of Woodson’s men are still disposed to “peg away” whenever a chance offers, at these pests of the unfortunate coumiuuity in which they have a resting-place.
