zuiuy ui cuu i/mu.I-Ie was engaged in the defense of Knoxville, Tenn., Dec. 3d and 4th, 1803, and participated in the Atlanta campaign, which ended with the capture of Atlanta, Ga., July 20, 1804.The 23d Corps being ordered to Tennessee to confront Hood, Comrade Emerywas with his regiment during that cam-paign and was engaged in the battle ofColumbia, Nov. 28-9, 1804, the battle ofFranklin, Nov. 30, 1804, and the battle ofNashville, Dec. 15, 18G4. With the 23dCorps, ho was theu transferred to thecoast of North Carolina and participatedin the battle of Town Creek, N. C , Feb.20th, 18G5.After Lee’s surrender he marched to Washington City and passed in the Grand Review, then was sent to Camp Douglas where he was mustered out of service on May 15, 1805, having served his country faithfully three years and four days.Having returned to his home in Galvn he lias remained among us a respected citizen until his death which occurred on Jan. 10th, 1SS8, at the age of nearly 32 years.He became a member of Galvn Post of the G. A. R., Feb. 2d, 1S83, and held the ofllce of surgeon of the Post one year.
