tory.On Aug. 6, 1964, he became a pilot for United Airlines, and in December of that year was promoted to second pilot, flying on the Los Angeles to Bostonrun.The accident is being investigated by aeronautical authorities of the Navy to determine the cause of the crash.Shirey was graduated from Williamsport High School in 1954 and he was the recipient of an honor key.He was also a wrestler and was runnerup in the District 4 finals in the 154 pound class.He attended Pennsylvania State University for one semester before entering the service.He was a member of High Street Methodist Church.Surviving in addition to his parents are two children, Jeffrey, 10, and Lynne, 6, both of Williamsport; one sister, Anna Lee, of Linden, and four brothers, Air Force M. Sgt. Gordon L., stationed in Memmingen, Germany; Army Pvt. David L., stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga.; Robert I., of Williamsport, andOscar E., of Linden.Burial will be at Williamsport.
