IN AUSTRALIAARMY NURSE PROUDOF FIVE BROTHERSSecond Lieutenant Evelyn Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Myers of 1426 Twenty-first avenue and a nurse serving with General Douglas MacArthur’a army in Australia, is mighty proud that five of her brothers and a brother-in-law are serving in the army.Lieutenant Myers, in a letter to Mr. and Mrs. Clair E. Tyson of 1422 Twenty-first avenue dated Dec. 13 and received a few days ago, acknowledged the receipt of a gift, package. It’s a real treat to get good American candy,” she wrote. The tone of the letter expresses that she is proud of her family’s representation in the army.When the letter was written she had knowledge that four brothers were in the service. Since then a fifth brother was inducted and is now in training. One brother, Raymond Myers, is serving with hefc in Australia. He and a brother, Robert Myers, with the AFF in Iceland, are former Altoona Mirror carriers. John Myers is with the army at Fort Bragg, N. C.Lieutenant Myers, when she wrote the Tyson letter, had just learned that another brother, George Myers, had been inducted in October. He is training with the air corps somewhere in South Dakota. Since then Joseph Myers was called to the colors and is training at Fort Bragg, N. C. Her brother-in-law, C. J. O’Neill of Pittsburgh, is with the tank corps in California.Nurse Myers said: Ray is still with me and it has been grand to have him here. We have both been upset a little about not hearing from mother, but we’ll probably get all her letters at one time.”Mr. and Mrs. Myers write letters every week to the daughter and sons. Lieutenant Myers in concluding her letter says, We’re not so good at answering letters over here, but we sure are glad to get them.”
