Army Pvt. David N. Slay, 21, son of Burton Slay, 1053 Byes ville Rd., recently completed h1 weeks of basic combat training with the 2d Armored Division at Ft. Hood, Tex. He attended Central High School and was formerly employed by Markley’s Service Station. Army Pvt. Roy F. Ginn, son of Roy C. Ginn, Pleasant City R. D. 1, is scheduled to de part from Fort Riley, Kan., for Germany in mid-January with the First Division’s Second In fantry. The Second is being reassign ed to the 24th Infantry Division and will be located in Augsburg. Ginn, a wireman in the infan try’s Mortar Battery, entered the Army in July, 1958, and completed basic combat train ing at Fort Riley, Kaw. The 19-year-old soldier was graduated from Center Local High School, Sarahsville, in 1957, William C. Barnett, seaman appentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Barnett of Cum berland R. D. 1, is serving at the Naval Missile Center, Point Mugu, Calif. The mission of the Center is to test and evaluate guided mis siles and their components. Howard C. Forsythe, seaman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed son E. Forsythe of 214 Fair St., Quaker City, departed from Ala meda, Calif., Jan. 3, aboard the “super” carrier USS Ranger for a tour of duty with the U. S. Seventh Fleet in the Far East. The big attack carrier has been operating out of Alameda, where she arrived last August after completing a 17,000 mile trip from Norfolk, Va., around South America and Cape Horn, Pvt. David N. Slay
