Two University of Richmond aluinni of the Class of *50, Todd R. Gregory and Thomas L, Howard, Jr., received commissions last month from the United States Naval Officer Candidate School atNewport, Rhode Island.The two men were among 114 enlisted men who received Supply Corps, Civil Engineer and specialist commissions after a two-month indoctrination course at the Navy’s only officer candidate school.Cregory received his bachelor of science degree from the School Business Administration of this versity. Howard received a bachelor science degree in chemistry and physics from Richmond College, and was the president of his graduating class.Graduates of the Navy's indoctrination course received their diplomas in n dual ceremony along with 777 graduates of the school’s four month training program for candidates for line officer commissions. Rear Admiral C.E. Ollen USN, commander of the Newport Naval Base, presented the diplomas.After n brief leave, the newly commissioned officer! will undergo further training in their specialities before bring assigned permanent duty stations.Todd R.
