Adjutant General's Office , One of the most important measmes enacted by the last legislature pro vldetl foi the complete re-organisation of the State Militia which was henceforth to he Known ab the Nation al Guard of \\ yoming On April 5th lOOi this icotganiza tion was quietly and systematically peifected The Guuid consists of the Third Regiment infinity under com mand^ of Col Zandei 1 here are four companies in the fhst battalion and three in the second malting seven well equipped and peifectly discip lined companies located in the Had ing cities of om state Under the new National law known as the Dick Bill the Guard now his a definite status and a put of the mi! itary fotce of the Lntted States The purpose of this Iiw was to harmonize the State Militia with the tegular irmy in oigtni/ation equipment and discipline and the Wat Department furnishes each slain Uic necessary equipment without cost The main object is to place the Militia of every state on a uniform footing and at the same time induce tho states to build up an organized militia that would he effective and available by tho general government for Immediate service fherby obviating the necessity of in treising the regulaj atiny I ndei this new law is amended the stati of Wyoming leeeived annually $11 968 G2 from the general government one fourth of which is set apart for rifle piactice Last year we passed a \eiy a editable Inspection made by fo\u Kgular army officers appointed for that puipose During the past two yeats tho Guaid has held two sathfactoiy en campmentg one at Doug as in 1905 during the state fair, when 136 offlc ers md men were present Last year the Guard participated in the ma neu\er camp with the troops of thlt; regulary army Both officers and men evinced great inteicst and enthu si asm and entered into the work most hearthv in connection with this mat ?ei the Colonel* of the legimenf has in id* ail excellent report which is unbodied with the detailed icpoit of Ihc Adjutant General The splendid report of the Adjutant Gcneia! covering the impmtant work of the State Militia sinlt;c its le organ i/ntlon contains a mimbn of import ant ri commendations which I ask \o\\ to carefully consider Our Zsaflonal Gu ird is ol vita) import tnee to the will being of the state and should be keneiouslv tncourflged
