The matter U being pushed bv tin; Wisconsin Archaeological society, uiul its secretary. Mr. Charles h. Brown, requests the names of those eligible to membership and any information of use in the organization work, to be forwarded to him. The object of the society will be the preservation of Indian records and relics and the promotion of a warmer fraternal feeling among those of Inman descent, ft is claimed that the real blno blood’ of America is “red blood.” and that the true American aristocrat is he whoso ancestors owned the soil in America siniHlUnenusly with the founders of the European aristocracy holding the lands which lmve since passed to their d.'scendnnts with their names. It m anticipated llmt there are nearly fifty eligible-.* in the city of Milwaukee, including some, of the scions of Milwaukee's oldest and most rospcetod families, und that several hundred will be found throughout the state. While it is a state movement at present, its scope will doubtless be enlarged in the near future and will embrace other states,Since Mr. Brown’s advent to the sec-retarvship of the Wisconsin Archaeological societv. a great deal of work lias beam done and'rcsuUH have been accomplished, along new lines. The society U promised means for the presentation of a handsome medal. Yearly, to the member mii-k-in« the most important contribution, through field work or other method of research, to the archaeological history »f the state. It is understood that one of Milwaukee’s most public spirited women will donate the medal. The society lias now in course of preparation a lmo work entitled -'What Wisconsin is doing to snvc its Archaeological Treasure*,” This should prove of interest and of educational value, and will bo profusely .llus-trnlcd with photographs of Indian mounds, cornfields, village ,itcs. mining nits, provision radios, and other evidences of aboriginal life.
