Crawford has established recruiting offices at Brownsville and other places in Texas. Enlistments are already progressing rapidly.Carogol Fainouec, the Mexican filibuster, has arrived with a large sum of money, to assist in defraying the expenses of the Imperialists.General Mejia levied a loan of $10Q,0u() on the i^er-cbauts of Matamoras.The military railroad from Brashear has been completed to White Ranclie.Later nfrs says American families are leaving Matamoras and coming to the American side, fearing an attack.The Liberal forces, numbering about 2,200, are scattered along the river.[second despatch.]Xr.tr Orleans, January 5.—Additional Brownsvilleaccounts say General Crawford has plenty of funds, and his chief-of-staff, Colonel A. Recruiting offices are being opened in other parts of Texas. One of the recruiting officers informed the Times' correspondent that n force was to come from New York. They are establishing a camp below Brownsville with sufficient supplies.It is reported that Generals Logan and Lew. Wallace are connected with the expedition, which aims at Monterey.General Meiia is aware of General Crawford's movements in Matamoras. General Mejia has commenced barricading the streets, fearing an attack from Crawford’s American division at any time.It is thought Crawford will join and move on Monterey, establishing a base at that point.
