Launch Second USS De Haven At Bath SundayBoston, Jan. 4.——The second USS De Haven in World War II—one of the new-type large destroyers—will be launched at the Bath Iron Works, Bath, Me., on Sunday, Jan. 9, First Naval District Headquarters announced today.The vessel, first to bo launched at the yard in 1944, will perpetuate the name of the destroyer sunk south of Savo island by Japanese air attack on Feb. 1, 1943.Like her predecessor, she will honor the late Lieut. Edwin Jesse De Haven, USN, who was born in Pennsylvania in 1816, served with the Navy from 1829 to 1857, and died at Philadelphia in 1865.Sponsor of the new vessel will bo Lieut. De Haven's granddaughter, Miss Helen N. Do Haven, of Ardmore. Penn. The first USS De Haven went down fighting during violent . action with Japanese forces.
