LIQUOR CHARGESTwo of ten persons arrested Wednesday in a series of New Year’s eve raids conducted by federal prohibition officers, assisted by state authorities, were arraigned yesterday before James P. Mead, United States commissioner.The two, Hoy Hicks, residing five miles west of Joplin, and J. M. La-near, 814 Broadway, waived preliminary hearing and were held to the January term of United States district court. Each gave $1,000 bond c for his appearance. vVancil Stinnett, a Negro, another to of the ten arrested, Wednesday pleaded guilty in justice court to a state charge of possessing liquor and was sentenced to serve sixty “ days in jail. The other seven are to be arraigned before the commis-sioner tomorrow. They are George Rainey, Negro, 112 East Second T street; James Wright, Negro, East Second street; Ed Turner, 215 Division avenue; William O. Miller, 2325 Bird avenue; Floyd E. Wood, 1224 Wall street; John Applegate, Bell Center, and Marie Ament, 625% Main street.W. L.
