Vets park work to be complete by Memorial DaySome planned improvements for Sandusky’s Veterans Park will be completed in time for a Memorial Day dedication,architect John Feick told the Sandusky City Commissioners during their Monday meeting.Phase I of planned improvements, the relocation of the Spanish American War Fountain from another downtown park, is going to cost the park committee about $7,500, Feick said.HEALTHVIEWeedDrCommissioners agreed to the proposed improvements and also agreed to let the cityabsorb about $7,000 of in-kindservices to assist in the relocation. Such services include supplying water and electricity to the fountain.Feick said the committee would eventually like to relocate all the bronze war plaques into the park to provide a centralized location where people may view them.Also included in future plans is the construction of the concrete plaza around the fountain. Feick said he hopes to those improvements may be completed by the end of the year.Sandusky High school students will build a platform and a gazebo for the area at Adams Junior High School that will be vacant when the fountain is relocated. That project is slated for completion in the spring of1991.
