William SluisNewsman-GIrvice cerpt rare-1 pre-bbathPinned DownBy Cong FireA former STAR reporter, Specialist Fifth Class William Sluis, Jr., of Mokena, spent an uncomfortable five hours last week pinned down by enemy machine gun fire on a rubber plantation in Dau Tieng, South Viet Nam.After Viet Cong raiders invaded the plantation, Sluis and several other soldiers were trapped inside the mam house without ammunition.
