Col. A. W. Roffe, of 319 Ridge Tiont Ave., Terrell Hills, has beei advised by the Department of th« Army that his son, Capt. A. W Roffe, Jr., died in a Communis: prison camp in North Korea or Jan, 7, 1951.Capt.-Roffe had been reportec as missing in.action-on of Nov: 26-27,1950, and efforts of the family and Army to get further information on- his fate had been . unsuccessful. A fellow prisoner of Capt.Roffe . reported to the Army after his release that Capt. Roffe Capt. Roffe died of malnutrition and dysentery only a short time after his capture.He was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy in 1945 and saw service with the 7th and 9th Infantry Divisions. At the time of his capture he was on his third foreign service tour, all of which were in the Pacific Theater.Besides his father, he is survived by a sister, Mrs, Frances R. Gideon, of Lake Charles, La. He had a large number of friends In. Army circles at Fort Sam Houston and in San Antonio.A memorial service will be held at the Main. Post Chapel, Fort Sam Houston, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with Major Gregory J. Lock officiating.
