! Memorial services* were conducted Sunday at the First Church, of the Nazarene, at Fourteenth and Ave. Q, for Pvt. Carl Newsom, ; 29, of Lubbock. Pvt. Newsom was killed Dec. ?, 1944, on Leyte, his widow, the former Novelle Bussey of Lubbock was informed. The soldier and Mrs. Newsom had a daughter, Carla Jean, born' in September of 1940. His mother, Mrs. Susie V. Newsom, and 12 brothers and sisters survive. The service was read by Rev. Albert F. Laing, church pastor.
