HonorDistrict FlyerPilot Officer Alexander Macgregor Matheson, who was reported missing after a mission to Leipzig, Germany, Feb. 20, 1944, has been posthumously awarded the Operational Wings of the R.C.A.F., The News was informed today by his sister, Mrs. Jessie C. Silver, 2219 47th *Ave. S.E., Calgary.“Greg” Matheson was widely known in the Medicine Hat district. Born in the city in 1918, he attended Montreal and Elm St. schools and Alexandra high school. Much of his early life was spent at his farm home at Rose* beg. He graduated from Calgary Normal School in 1938 and spent 41/** years teaching at Frcdensfeldt, Robinson and Long Valley schools in the Schuler and Irvine districts. He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in'1942 and trained at Edmonton, Brandon and Saskatoon, earning his pilot’s wings at Claresholm in January, 1943.
