Suspected Spy in Female !rcss.Cleveland has found a new style of sensation. The Herald says that on Saturday two young women, apparently about nineteen or twenty years old, called at the rooms of the Soldiers’ Aid Society and applied for transportation to Washington; One of them giving the name of Chailotte Anderson, said 6be had enlisted two or three times in the army, but had been njected on her sex being discovered. As they turned to leave, one of the ladies in the room became suspicious that “Charlotte” was a man,’and sent up stairs to the Provost Marshal, by whose order “Charlotte” and her ccuipanien were immediately arrested.“Charlotte” on being charged with sailing under false colors, indignautlv denied the imputation* and her companion, Emma, also assured the officer that “Charlotte” was a girl, for they had slept together several nights. The Herald says the result of the inquiry was, that “Charlotte” turned out to be Char- j ley when he expiessed himself ready to 1 make “a clean head of it,” and finished • a statement of his case, showing that he was a native of Hamburg, Germany, and came to this country about fifteen years since, enlisted in the army in 1863: was a member of Company 1), COtb O.
