March 1.Under an agreement worked out between the Daughters of Charity, present owrners of St. Joseph in Alton and the new owners, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence ofGod. Pittsburgh. Penn., Sister DePaul will serve as an interim administrator for a year or two until the Franciscans can obtain a trained administrator within their own Order.Sister Alma Pukel. O.S.F., current Vice President of the Board of Trustees of Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the Franciscans' only other hospital in the United States, will report March 4 as the new assistant administrator in Alton. She willreplace Sister Antoine Speyrer. DC., who has been acting administrator since January 1. Sister Antoine will remain forseveral weeks to orient the newSisters.Sister DePaul, on the St. Joseph Chicago staff since 1972, was formerly Administrator of St. Vincent’sInfant Hospital, Chicago, a 238-bed institution that was closedin 1971. She had been there fouryears.She was once assistant administrator of both Hotel Dieu Hospital, El Paso, Texas and St. Vincent’s Hospital, Los Angeles. California.Sister DePaul has an RN from DePaul Hospital. St. Louis, a BS in nursing education from Mt. St. Marv’swCollege, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in hospital administration trom St. LouisUniversity. A St. Louis native, she is a member of theAmerican College of Hospital Administrators.Sister Alma, whose home is in Chicago, has an RN from the School of Nursing of the Little Company of Mary Hospital. Chicago and a BS in nursing education from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh.She has been on the staff ofGood Samaritan Hospital for 14 years with a variety of nursing duties that have included thesurgery, coronary care and intensive care units and theemergency room. She was responsible for establishing that hospital’s disaster program. She recently served a term as president of theSouthern Illinois chapter, Association of Operation Room Nurses.
