I will kindly ask our kind editor to give space to this clipping from the Hickman County News, in order that his friends throughout Navarro county and surrounding counties may know and learn of his death.MEASLEY JIM.The item from the Hickman County News referred to was under the head of W. I. Tatum Dies at His Home. One of the Best Known Citizens of the County. Had Many Friends/' and reads os follows:“W. I. (Dick) Tatum, aged 64 years, died last Saturday at 1 p. m. of gall stone colic at his home at Loafers’ Rest, near Lyles.“The deceased was one of the best known citizens of the county, and he lent his aid to projects promising betterment to the people. He was generous and helpful to his community. He possessed more than the average fund of common sense, and he was succesful in his pursuits“Few men had more friends than Dick Tatum, whose quaint humor lent a charm to his conversation. Ho was a friend to his fellowman, honest in his dealings and true to his convictions. He is survived by one brother, Tom Tatum, postmaster at Little Lot, and one sister, Mrs. T. W. Fielder, of Marmaduke, Ark. The deceased was a long-time friend of the News, to whose columns he was an occasional interesting contributor.Cottonwood News
