Bomber Dives Into Meat Plant; 28 Feared Dead* ‘ * a ** •*Flames Spread Thru Building After Crash; Large Amount of Pork BurnedSEATTLE—Firemen feared today that 28 persons were killed when a four-motored bomber plunged thru the fifth floor brick wall of the Frye and Co. meat packing plant, spreading gasoline-fed flames thru the build-mg.4Twelve bodies had been recovered from the wreckage of the plane and debris of the plant’s interior. Eight of them were the bodies of the plane's crew members, and four were identified as those of packing plant employes. The bodies of three other crew members were found near the plant. Their parachutes failed to open when they leaped from the faltering plane.Thirteen employes of the packing company were listed as missing. Firemen said their search for the bodies might take two days because steel girders of the plant’s interior had been twisted by the heat. A mass of debris would have to be moved, they said, before the bodies could be extricated.Among the dead whose bodies had been removed was Edmund T. (Eddie) Allen, world famous test pilot. Allen was in charge of the big ship, which was on a test flight for Boeing Aircraft Co.Fire destroyed 107,000 poundsof pork, including 80 live hogs. The bomber apparently exploded in flight a mile from the Boeing airport. Boeing officials said the crash resulted from “a fire which developed in an engine in the course of a regular test flight.””The fire, altho extinguished temporarily with automatic carbon dioxide equipment, accordingto the plane’s radio report, resumed and apparently spread over one wing while the crew was making an approach to the Boeing field for an emergency landing,” the company’s official statement said.Test Blackout Set (or March 4Northern, Eastern Counties AffectedCOLUMBUS—Ralph H.
