He obtained his advance training at Ellington Field, Houston, Tex., where he was graduated and received his “wings”, April 29, lt;1943. He was then sent to Kyote Air Base, Kyote, Tex., for„his postgraduate instruction. He went overseas last October and had been flying from an English base sincethat time.Was Hit Over GermanyMrs. Notestein received a letter from the chaplain of her husband's company, Wednesday evening, giving more of the details of the ill-fated mission. In his letter the chaplain stated that Lt. Notestein’s ship had been hit in the wing while on a mission over central Germany and that crews of other planes reported that he had maneuveredthe plane into a cloud bank, apparently to escape enemy fire, but that whether or not the crew was able to bail out was not determined.Lt.
