Pvt. Carl W. Newsom Is Killed In ActionMrs. Novdle Newsom, 1615 Sixth, hod been informed by the War department that her husband Pvt. Car! W. Newsom, was killed in action on Leyte island, in the Philippines, Dec. 7.Pvt. Newsom was formerly employed by the Household Supply company here and was living in Wcll-i n g t o n at the time of his induction less than a year ago. He received his basic training at Camp Roberts, NEWSOM Calif., and went overseas with an infantry division.His wife and small daughter, Clara Jean, reside with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Bussey, at the above address. Mrs. Newsom, a graduate of Lubbock High school and Texas Tech, is the former Miss Novelle Bussey.
