Pvt. Carl W. Newsom Is Killed In ActionMrs. Novelle Newsom, 1815 Sixth, had been informed by the War department that her husband Pvt. Carl W. Newsom, was killed in action on Leyte island, in the Philippines, Dec. 7.Pvt. Newsom was formerlyemployed by the Household Supply companyhere and was living in W(?U-i n g t o n at the time of his induction less than a year ago. He received his basic training at Camp Roberts, NEWSOM Calif., and went overseas with an infantry division.His wife and small daughter, Clara Jean, reside with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Bussey, at the above address. Mrs. Newsom, a graduate of Lubbock High school and Texas Tech, is the former Miss Novelle Bussey.
