C. His unit is an element of the 12th Marine Amphibious Brigade lt;MAB).“Alpine Warrior”, an annual exercise designed to provide essential cold weather training for East Coast-based Marines, is taking place at Fort Drum, N. Y . The 3,000-man 12th MAB is commanded by Marine Brigadier General Francis W. Tief.Stressing the problems encountered in cold weather operaUons, the six-week exercise includes both individual and unit training.Thus far during the maneuvers, he and his fellow Marines have had to put their cold weather training into practice immediately.
