SobolewskiFindHonor In Service To Nation, Town, FamilyThe service records and private careers of the six Sobolewski boys are indeed a source of pride to their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sobolewski of 27 Russell St., as well as to the town of Branford. .All of the six have served or continue to serve their nation well. Seldom does a family such as this gain open appreciation for its deeds. The story is one of courage and hard work.Charles, the eldest of the sextet; was born in 1924. * After graduating from Branford High School in 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Force and attended radio school in Chicago, graduating as a radio operator-mechanic.Transferred to the Southwest Pacific in 1943, he saw action in the Solomon Islands, New Guinea and the Philippines.After being awarded the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, he returned to the United States and was discharged With the rank of staff sergeant in 1945. Following separation from the service, Charles attended Milford Prep and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson College. He has been employed at the Winchester Co. since 1950 and, in January of this year, was appointed to the post of manufacturing superintendent of the ammunition plant of ttifc, Winchester-Western Division of the Olin-Mathieson Chemical Corp. Married to the former Betty Holcomb of Hotchkiss Grove, the couple resides on West End Ave., with their two daughters.Bom in 1926, Edmund graduated from Branford High School in 1944 and several days after graduation entered the U. S.Navy. After service aboard Navy minesweepers with the Atlantic Fleet, he was discharged in 1946 with the rate of Quartermasterthird-class.He attended Milford Prep and Syracuse University and graduated in 1952 from Arnold College as a physical education-major. After teaching ‘at Mansfield State Training School he received a master’s degree in guidanceSelectmen Seek120 Jurot8Branford’s Board of Selectmen, acting as the jury committee, is seeking the names of 120 volunteers for jury duty. The list of those desiring such duty must be presented to the clerk of the Superior Court in New Haven prior to the first Monday in April.Qualified jurors must be not less than 25 years old, of good character and have no permanent disability which would Interfere with service as a juror. Those wishing to be considered for the jury list are asked to contact the selectmen's office.from the University of Connecticut last year.At the present Edmund is teaching general science in the seventh and eighth grades of the Lincoln Junior High School in Meriden. Married to the former Angelina Pozzi, the couple has two sons and reside on Indian Neck Ave.Next in line, age-wise, is Raymond who was born in 1929. He 1 jngstiJ mail, graduated from Branford High School in 1947 and, the next year, entered the Air Force.After attending radio school at Scott Field, 111., he served as an electronics instructor at Biloxi,Hong Kong Resident Thanks Postal StaffPostmaster Joseph Driscoll has received a letter from a former Branford resident ,now living in Hong Kong, which indicates that service at the local Post Office knows no boundaries. The letter, written by Grace Brunger from the Chinese Young Men's Christian Association of -Hong Kong, follows:“We want to express our appreciation to you for the very efficient way in which your post office has handled mail for us. In June, 1954, we left Branford with a New York forwarding address.
