Japanese, Ex-Resident,Is Now In Signal CorpsYoichi Robert Okamoto, former Bronxville resident and first American-born Japanese from upstate New York to join the United States Army since the declaration of war on Japan, has been transferred to the Signal Corps detachment at Fort Monmouth,N. J.A newspaper photographer and Colgate University graduate in 1938* Okamoto made two trips to Japan with his parents as a child. He was evacuated from Tokio in 1923 during the earthquake by an American de-stroyer. After returning to this country, he acted as a child lecturer to raise funds for Japanese earthquake relief.
