Corp. Gray, USMC Is Home After 18 Months in Pacific Corp. Raymond J. Gray, USMC, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gray. 260 Central avenue, is home on a thirty-day furlough after serving a year and a half in the South Pacific.Corp. Gray participated in three major battles—Rendova, Munda and Bougainville. He and his squadron have received the Presidential citation twice for downing ninety-five Japanese Zeroes.The Salamanca Marine is an airplane mechanic and also has served as a turret gunner on a torpedo plane. While with a bomber squadron, he took part in several engagements against the Japanese navy. This group is credited for destroying 150.000 tons of gasoline shipping.While overseas, Corp. Gray met two Salamanca,boys, Frank Boza and John Stephens, both Marines. jGray joined the Marines two yearsago next July and received his basicj training at Parris Island. 2s. C.
