».I-i.2ND LT. JAMES E. MacDANIELCONNERSVILLE _ Solemn requiem high mass will be sung at 10:30 a. m. Saturday in St. Gabriel’s Catholic church for Second Lieutenant James E. MacDaniel, 22 years old, son of Dr. and Mrs. C. B. MacDaniel, who died Jan. 14 in a fire at an air base on the southeast coast of Korea.By letter, Major Charles P. Car-ley, informed the parents here that their son had made a cross country navigation flight Jan. 14 to a marine air base in southeastern Korea. He and another officer from his own base had gone to bed when the building burst into flames. The tragedy cost the lives of both officers.“We knew Jimmy as a clean cut, personable young officer who was regarded with esteem by his acco-ciates,” the major wrote.Lieutenant MacDaniel graduated from Connersville high school and attended the university of Dayton for one year. He entered the air force in August, 1953. After basic training at Sampson base in New York, he trained at Lackland Air base in Texas, and was commissioned in March 1955, at Williams Air Force base, Chandler, Ari*.He took a multi-engine transition course at Randolph field, San Antonio, Tex. He was a member of the Elks lodge here, the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name society and the St. Gabriel church.Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Dr. Donald L. MacDaniel of Connersville and Captain William MacDoniel at Tinker Air Force base, Oklahoma.Friends may call at the Miller funeral home aftt*^7 p. m. Thursday. The rosary will be recited there at 8 p. m. Friday. The casket will not be opened.Burial will be in Dale cemetery.A memorial fund in Lieutenant MacDaniel’s name has been established with the St. Vincent de Paul society of St. Gabriel’s to which contributions may be made through the Rev.
