The article, under the aheading Two Illinois Pilots Help ! ahSmash V-Bomb Ramp in Germany” from the SHAEF, Paris, Jan. 23, is as follows:Three United States 9th Air ForceVfighter-bomber pilots, two of whom: fare from Illinois, dive bombed andndestroyed a 350-foot V-bomb launch-I , ^ing site 20 miles south of Euskirehen,Germany.iSecond Lieutenants John J. Ken-Snedy of Tampico and David S. McClure of Bloomington scored fourdirect hits with 500 pound bombs oneFAthe ramp and five truckloads of dismantled V-bombs.sTho we were up about 6,000 feet at the time of the explossion, Ken- Enedy said, “we felt the kick of theblast and smoke billowed sky high.The blackened condition of the snowindicated the launching rampbeen used recently.” McClure said, j“the launching platform was an in- jiclined wooden structure and seemedto be pointing toward Liege.”
