Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nading and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Goodin and family, Oelwein, and Christy Goodin, West Union.—Christmas dinner and supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Gruver were Mr. and Mrs. William Gruver, West Union, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gruver, Waucoma, Bonnie and Johnny, Bechtel, Alexandria, La., Lucilleand Connie Amdahl West Unionfor her son who was killed in a Vietnam helicopter crash.Col. Christopher S. Magio, ( commanding officer of the arsenal, presented the DFC, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, and Vietnamese Campaign medal.On July 17, Noble was on a reconnaissance mission and spotted a bunker complex in the U-Minh forest. He threw grenades at enemy buildings and the bunkers despite intense enemy fire. He destroyed five buildings, one bunker, and four sampans before his aircraft was shot down by automatic weapons fire. He was killed when the chopper crashed into the trees.Noble, born in Mobile, Ala., entered the army in March, 1970. His mother Mrs. Mary Nissen is the wife of George Nissen, who is the son of Mrs. Fred Neuman, Oelwein.
