Dtcemb«r2t, )96»Newsday: Police bullets killed 10 PanthersGAROEiN CITY (UPI) — A newspaper investigation into tbe series of clasbes between Black Panthers and police produced ‘‘indisputable evidence” that 10 Panthers were killed by poiice, it was reoorted Saturdav.Newsday, tbe Long Island newspa^r, said it alw had determined that five policemen were killed by Panthers, although one of tbe deaths was described as “disputed and even mysterious.The newspaper said it had been investigating the Panthers in a number of cities throogbout the country for the past three weeks in conjunction with a charge by Panther attorney Charles Garry that police have killed 28 members of tbe remlutionary organization in the past two years.Newsday listed the 10 Panthers who “indisputaUy were killed by tbe police” as:BOBBY HUTTON, 17, killed April 6. 1968 in a shootout at Oakland, Calif.STEVEN BARTHOLOMEW, THOMAS LEWIS and ROBERT LAWRENCE, killed in a shootout in Los -Angeles.WELSTON ARMSTEAD. 17. killed Oct. 15, 1968 in Seattle, Wash., when carrying a rifle.
