' His letter, passed by the censor, is:Dear Friend Claude:What is the xpatter with the peo-14'. pie back home? Do they think we are playing checkers with the ene-i my? If they dof I wish they would come over here and help us play. 1 mean the people that are going on strikes and those that are quitting the war factories for other non-essential work.,| “Just because we are winning the ! war isn’t the sign that the home | front can quit; they are in it just as much as we are, they have to keep the ammo coming otherwise : we can’t keep on. What do they i think we are going to do, pick up j clubs and bat the enemies bullets ! back at them ?j What they ought to do with people like that is put them on the front line and take the soldier off and put them in the factory in the strikers place and I will bet there won't be any more strikes. What do you think? This goes for people in Jewell who might be laying down on the job. We can't win the war alone.A friend,Pvt. David G. Hackett.(1IIIva
