Michael La Morte, former pressman for the Greenwich News and Graphic, who returned from overseas with 9,000 soldiers and hundreds of marines aboard the steamship Leviathan, arrived at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph La Morte, of Fox Hill road, Christmas eve, having received an honorable discharge from the service. He was at Camp Merritt, New Jersey, several days, after the vessel docked in New York. Sergeant La Morte wears two stripes on liis sleeve for overseas service, three stripes denoting that he was a sergeant, two stripes for a wound received at the front and a red stripe announcing the fact that he has been discharged.He enlisted in the regular army, Xew York city in September, 1917, •.nd was sent to Fort Slocum, Later te was transferred to Syracuse ami hen to North Carolina and finally -o Camp Merritt, where on May .0, 1918, he went overseas. In the ig battle at the Vesele river, he was wounded in the left thigh by •. piece of shrapnel and was for hree months in a hospital, where 10 underwent an operation. Hubbard has been appointed receiver for tho Reliable Fur company of 1200 Main street by Judge Curtisof the Superior court. The new receiver qualified in bonds of $1,600 and was authorized to continue the business until January 10,The petition for the appointment of a receiver was filed bv Bertha Kahn of this city, a stockholder in the Reliable company. She said she owned more than one tenth of the stock, that the company had many creditors and that its assets were in danger of waste because of litigation.
