WAF career fields 5A wide range of jobs and skills are opening for women in hundreds of career fields in the Air Force to compliment plans for a large expansion in the number of female personnel, Sgt. Charles Waldner, Air Force recruiter, announced today.As a result of increased automation and technological developments, Sgt. Waldner pointed out more and more job opportunities in well over 250 fields will be available to women in the air force (WAF).WAF are working in such fields as photomapping, intelligence, data processing, accounting and finance, and medical and dental assistance.It was noted WAF are not organized as a separate auxiliary corps but form an integral part of the U.S. Air Force. WAF compete equally with both men and women in the Air Force for promotion in each of the airman grades.WAF also have the same opportunities as the men to take correspondence courses as well as attend off-duty undergraduate and graduate schools at nearly all U.S. colleges and universities.
