ATHLETIC stars TAKE ARMY DUTYNorris Fletcher and Gene I Needham, stars of OxnardHigh's co-championship football team in 1950, were includ-j ed in a group of 10 young men from Oxnard who volunteered for the Army draft yesterdayat the Selective Service boardi in Y'entura.*Others were softball pitching star Jackie Newman and his battery mate, Charley Jones; baseball players Bue-ford Martin and Bert Stern; Jack Riggers, George Baldwin, Bill Cox and Vern Scanland. ' They volunteered so they could go in a group.Scanland said that they wifi report for duty on Feb. 4, but their destination has not been ! determined.
