GLEN ROGERS—John AlfredGreer is a battle fatality in Korea•**and his brother, Wilburn Seldon Greer, has suffered slight wounds.This a 11 formation has been received by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Greer, of Glen Rogers, from the Department of Defense.John Alfred died on the North Korean front Nov. 8 and Wilburn Seldon was wounded in actionNov, 27.t the eldest son, first enlisted on June 3, 1947 and received his infantry basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C. He left the service in May, 1948 and re-enlisted on Sept. 7, 1949. He was sent to Fort Knox then to Fort Lewis from where he was sent to Korea about the first of August. Roth he andhis brother were with the second division, left for Korea in the convoy but never saw each other.According to John’s chaplain,John E. Cannon, he was struck by a small arms fire in the viof Yongdong-Ni and was killed instantly. His body was placed in the United Nations cemetery at Pongyang. The infantry commanders, Colonel Peploe, furthec informed the parents that their son'seJohn and Wilburn Greerc 1 eat h occurrec 1 shert 1 v a fterregiment was sent to Korean front.Wilburn Seldon enlisted in 1948 and was sent to Fort Knox. Early in 1950 he was sent to Fort u here he remained, until shipped to Korea about the first of August. A telegram has been received stating that he has been removed to a hospital for treatment of battle wounds.Both boys attended Glen Rogers High School.
